26 Days Uganda Kenya Photography Wildlife and Cultural Tour
Meanwhile, our 26 Days Uganda Kenya Photography Wildlife and Cultural Tour in the Murchison Falls and Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. You can do this on a luxury/mid-range/Budget trip.
Discuss with the travel expert. It was a great ending to our long trip, where we encountered several wildlife species, ranging from the big predators to the small dwelling creatures, that made us love every moment we spent.
Below is a short itinerary for you about this trip!
Day 1. Arrival at Entebbe International Airport
Welcome to the “Pearl of Africa”! Arriving at Entebbe International Airport (EBB) is the official start of your 26-day journey. As of early 2026, here is what you need to know for a smooth landing and transition to your Hotel.
Day 2. Kampala City Tour
A city tour of Kampala on Day 2 immerses you in the “organised chaos” of Uganda’s capital, a city famously built on seven hills. Because traffic can be unpredictable, your tour will likely focus on a mix of cultural heritage, spiritual landmarks, and vibrant local markets.
Day 3. Drive to Lake Bunyonyi (the second-deepest lake in Africa and a perfect spot for adventure travel).
leave the city behind for a scenic 8- to 9-hour drive (approx. 420 km) southwest toward the border with Rwanda. This journey takes you from the bustling central plateau into the terraced “Little Switzerland of Africa.”
Day 4. Adventures at Lake Bunyonyi (Canoe trek, Boat rides, High ropes climbing)
After the long drive, you’ll trade the car for dugout canoes and boat rides. Lake Bunyonyi—meaning “Place of many little birds”—is not just a scenic backdrop; it is an adventure playground.
Day 5. Drive to the Bwindi Gorilla Forest
You leave the tranquil waters of Lake Bunyonyi and head into the ancient, mist-covered slopes of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. During this short but incredibly scenic drive, you journey deep into the heart of the Kigezi Highlands.
Day 6. Gorilla trekking
You reach the crown jewel of your 26-day expedition. On Day 6, you experience a profound, almost spiritual encounter with the world’s last remaining mountain gorillas in the depths of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.
Day 7. Exploring the Ishasha sector, which is famous for the tree-climbing lions.
You descend from the rainforest highlands to the sweeping savannahs of the Ishasha Sector, the southern gem of Queen Elizabeth National Park. This area is world-famous for its unique population of tree-climbing lions, a behavioural quirk seen in very few places across Africa.
Day 8. Exploring the Queen Elizabeth Crater fields and the Kazinga channel
You transition from the quiet southern plains to the dramatic volcanic heart of Queen Elizabeth National Park. During this day of two halves, you explore rugged crater landscapes in the morning and observe incredible water-based wildlife in the afternoon.
Day 9. Drive to Kibale forest. The Primate capital of East Africa
leaves the savannah behind and heads toward the lush, tropical rainforests of Kibale National Park. This drive is relatively short (about 2–3 hours), allowing for a relaxed pace as you transition into the “Primate Capital of the World.”
Day 10. Ultimate Chimpanzee trek
Step into the humid, high-canopy world of the Ultimate Chimpanzee Trek. While gorillas are calm and majestic, chimpanzees are loud, fast, and incredibly charismatic—making this an entirely different kind of primate experience.
Day 12. Drive to Jinja. The adventure capital of East Africa
Since Day 11 was your transit day to get through the Kampala traffic, Day 12 is your official introduction to Jinja—the legendary town where the Nile begins its 6,000 km journey to the Mediterranean. Known as the Adventure Capital of East Africa, Jinja blends colonial-era charm with high-octane energy.
Day 13. White Nile water rafting/Cycling/Relaxing
You embark on the ultimate “choose your own adventure” day. Whether you battle world-class rapids or find a quiet corner of the Nile to reflect, Jinja covers every pace of your journey.
Day 14. Drive to Kisumu, Kenya
You take your expedition international as you leave Uganda and cross into Kenya. During this transition day, you travel from the source of the Nile to the bustling lakeside city of Kisumu, Kenya’s third-largest city.
Day 15. Drive to the Masai Mara
You leave the shores of Lake Victoria behind and head toward the world’s most iconic safari destination: the Masai Mara National Reserve. Along the way, you journey from the tropical lake basin into the high-altitude, golden savannahs of the Great Rift Valley.
Day 16. Full-Day safaris in the mighty Mara
You wake to the “Mara Dawn”—a symphony of birds and the distant grunts of hippos. Then, you dedicate your day to exploring one of the most wildlife-dense ecosystems on the planet.
Day 17. Half-Day drive and a visit to the Masai Village
You balance the raw beauty of the wilderness with the rich heritage of the people who have lived alongside it for centuries. Finally, you spend your last morning in the Mara before you begin the journey back toward the Uganda border.
Day 18. Drive to Kisumu/Nakuru
You begin your journey out of the Great Rift Valley and head back toward the shores of Lake Victoria. Along the way, you transition from the open savannahs into the lush, mountainous landscapes that define the border region.
Day 19. Drive to Sipi Falls
cross back into the “Pearl of Africa” and head toward the cool, mist-shrouded slopes of Mount Elgon. This journey takes you from the bustling Kenyan plains to one of Uganda’s most romantic and scenic landscapes: Sipi Falls.
Day 20. Explore the Sipi Falls
Trade the safari vehicle for your hiking boots. Sipi Falls isn’t just one waterfall—it’s a series of three distinct levels, each with its own personality, connected by a network of local trails that wind through lush coffee gardens.
Day 21. Drive to Moroto and experience the Life of the Karamajong
The landscape shifts dramatically as you leave the lush, vertical gardens of Sipi and descend onto the vast, sun-baked savannahs of Karamoja. Next, you immerse yourself in one of the most culturally authentic experiences of your entire 26-day journey.
Day 22. Drive to Kidepo Valley
venture into the most remote corner of Uganda. The drive from Moroto to Kidepo Valley National Park is a rugged, off-the-beaten-path journey through the wild “frontier” of the north. As you travel further into the Karamoja wilderness, the world starts to feel vast, quiet, and completely untouched.
Day 23. Explore Kidepo Valley
You are in the heart of what CNN Travel often calls the most beautiful Park in Africa. Because Kidepo is so remote, the wildlife here is “wilder” and the landscapes more dramatic than anywhere else on your 26-day journey.
Day 24. Drive to Murchison Falls
You leave the rugged isolation of the north and head toward Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest and oldest conservation area. This significant 7–8 hour drive carries you through the shifting landscapes of the Acholi sub-region.
Day 25. Explore Murchison Falls
You will witness the centrepiece of Uganda’s largest national Park. Murchison Falls is not just a waterfall; it is a display of raw volcanic power where the world’s longest river, the Nile, forces its way through a narrow 7-meter gap in the rocks.
Day 26. Drive to Ziwa for a Rhino trek and transfer to Entebbe!
On your final day, you complete your “Big Five” checklist with a thrilling on-foot encounter. Afterwards, you head back to where the journey began, transitioning from the wild savannah to the serene shores of Lake Victoria.
