5 Days Uganda Primates Safari for Gorilla and Chimpanzee Tracking Experience in Uganda

On this 5 Days Uganda Primates Safari, you see the 2 great apes and other monkeys in Uganda. So Tracking of the primates is basically for the gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable forest where they are known to only survive in this mountainous forest and not even in the Zoo. And then the Chimpanzees in Kibale Forest National Park the great primate world in Africa.

Day 1: Drive to Kibale Forest Park.

So in the Morning after breakfast, We depart Kampala or Entebbe and head to Kibale Forests via Mityana and Mubende towns for about 6-7 hrs. Reaching Fort Portal Town, you will have a lunch break then later on proceed to the lodge. Along the drive, you will have to see lots of farms and large Tea estates that are picture attractive. Don’t hesitate to stop your driver so as to take beautiful photos.

5 Days Uganda Primates SafariDay 2: Chimpanzee Tracking and Bigodi Nature walk in Kibale.

This day gets an Early breakfast and leaves for Kibale Chimpanzee Tracking by 7:30 am. It’s the Chimpanzee tracking day so we need to be at Kanyanchu Visitor Center for the Tracking briefing.

And enter the forest to look out for the Chimpanzee primates. Usually, the Morning track is from 8-12:00 am.

Return to the Lodge for Lunch. At 2 pm we take a guided Nature Walk Hike in Bigodi Wetlands Sanctuary which is a most fascinating place where you have an expert guide with you to explain all the vegetation, trees, flowers, and plants.

As well as different monkey types like black and white Colobus, Gray Cheeked Mangabeys, red-tailed Monkeys, and many others that regularly feed there and birds like a Great Blue Turaco, Brown Parrots, and many others.

Day 3: We set off for Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.

On this day we are entitled to drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Gorilla Forest. We drive through the Ishasha region of Queen Elizabeth National Park.

As we have our way through Ishasha, we go on a game drive to search for tree-climbing lions of Ishasha and have a quick lunch stop in the area then, later on, continue to Bwindi Park and Check in to your lodge and relax waiting for the next day.

In the morning, carry on your light Rain jacket and hiking boots that are best for Gorilla Trek adventure. Have breakfast and join your guide to drop you off at the briefing center before 8 am.

As you set to enter the forest, Get a walking stick and also use a porter to carry your things. (This is not included in the prices)

Usually, the Gorilla Trek takes about 3 – 7 hours depending on the family group assigned to track. The reason is, that the gorillas move daily and even before you even go on the trek.

Day 5: Return to Kampala

This is an all-day drive including a break lunch and a visit to the equator etc.
