These majestic peaks sit at the intersection of DR Congo, Rwanda, and Uganda, offering a unique opportunity to explore the high-altitude wilderness of the Virunga Massif.

Day 1: Arrive for the Virunga Culture and Hiking Expedition

Select between two pickup options: either Kigali International Airport in Rwanda or Entebbe International Airport in Uganda. Following your arrival, our professional guide transfers you to Kisoro, Uganda, situated at the base of the majestic Virunga Volcanoes. Along the way, enjoy the winding roads of the “thousand hills” and take in magnificent views of the volcanoes from your Lodge while encountering the amazing local people.

Day 2: Hike the Muhabura, Sabyinyo, or Gahinga Volcanoes

Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is home to three of the Virunga volcanoes, which have great hiking trails.

Mt. Sabyinyo, locally known as “An Old Man’s Tooth” due to its distinctive, jagged formation. Physically fit adventurers navigate the rugged terrain to reach the summit of this challenging peak.

It is a 1-day hike, with its 3rd peak marking the border among Uganda, Rwanda, and the DR Congo, and the other 2 peaks bordering Uganda and Rwanda. Offers Lots of beautiful Scenery and great landscapes.

Challenge yourself with Mt. Muhabura, the most demanding peak in the Park, known locally as “The Guide.” Dedicate most of your day to this hike, as the arduous climb rewards adventurous trekkers with a profound sense of accomplishment. On clear days, enjoy spectacular, panoramic views stretching across Uganda, Rwanda, and the DR Congo.

Mt. Gahinga, in the local language, means ‘pile of stones’ and offers a great hike compared to the other two, with a bamboo forest and marshy craters at the peak. The lower slopes are rich with forest birds, and the marshes near the summit are home to the bushbuck, buffalo, forest elephants, and elusive duiker.

Day 3: Return to Kampala (Entebbe) or Kigali for a Departure flight

Today, in case you have an opportunity, you can choose to take a gorilla trek or a golden monkey trek. After that, we leave for Kigali Airport in case you have an overnight flight.

But then, if you are going to Kampala, we will have to have breakfast and transfer to the Entebbe Airport.
