3 Days Golden Monkey Habituation Safari Experience in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.
You embark on our 3 Days Golden Monkey Habituation Safari Experience to meet the only primates that survive in the dense bamboo forests. Next, you explore Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, the unique destination where “silver meets gold.” Consequently, you encounter both the majestic mountain gorillas and the rare golden monkeys in a single landscape.
Day 1: Transfer to Mgahinga or Kisoro Town.
Start your journey from Kampala, Entebbe, or Kigali, then transfer to Kisoro town in the remote southwestern corner of Uganda. Throughout this 450-kilometre expedition from Central Uganda, you will drive for approximately nine to ten hours. As you travel, you will encounter breathtaking views of rolling hills and the scenic silhouettes of the Virunga Volcanoes. Finally, you will reach your destination in the evening to settle in for an overnight stay, greeted by the warm smiles of the local people.
Day 2: Full-Day Golden Monkey Habituation Experience.
Grab your hiking boots, rain jacket, and packed lunch to join the Park rangers as you venture into the jungle. Once inside, you will search for the world’s endangered primates that have remarkably survived evolution.
Throughout the trek, you will encounter spectacular vegetation and dramatic landscape views. Furthermore, do not hesitate to ask questions about the trek, as your guide is ready to provide any information you need to make your experience fulfilling.
Once you return in the afternoon, descend toward Kabale at Lake Bunyonyi for an evening boat cruise across one of Africa’s deepest lakes. As you navigate the waters, you will explore numerous islands that preserve the region’s ancient cultural norms and customs.
Day 3: Drive to the Airport or the Lodge.
After enjoying your morning breakfast, depart for your drop-off destination as you reflect on an exciting trip filled with classic memories. Throughout the return drive, you will carry home the highlights of your adventure across Southwestern Uganda.
