Nyero Rock Paintings

The Nyero Rock Paintings are added to the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List on September 10 1997, in the Cultural Category. The Nyero rock paintings located in Eastern Uganda, in Kumi District (about 250 km from Kampala) are among the most important rock art not just in Uganda but in Africa as well.

The rock art has a few aspects that make it unique. Most of it is geometric art with circular, rectangular, sausage, dot and lines making up the basic shapes.
